La Mer, Jumeirah: top pour results on protection wall

The La Mer project is one of a number of ambitious infrastructure developments with which the United Arab Emirates is cementing its image as a prestigious commercial and residential hub. A vast 950,000 m² of land have been reclaimed from the Arabian Sea on which to build hotels, residential buildings, shopping and entertainment centers. The reclamation of land centers around two peninsulas with beaches and a southern island.

A long, curved shore protection wall with an offset crown and a slanted inside surface required special formwork expertise to come up with a flexible and viable solution. Integrated Construction Company consulted MEVA KHK Formwork Systems in Dubai, a leading supplier of formwork solutions in the region with a wellequipped rental fleet. An experienced team of experts used the Mammut 350 wall system as a basis to pour the straight and slanted wall sections with adapted support. The bend in the long supporting wall was achieved by using a wedge-shaped compensation between the panels. This proved to be the best solution, both economically and technically. Site management are particularly pleased with the impeccably smooth
concrete finish on the long wall with its complicated geometry. This is achieved thanks to the Mammut 350’s alkus all-plastic facing, which is a worldwide standard in MEVA formwork systems.
